REAL-LIFE EXAMPLE: BARCELONA

‘Barcelona for You’ or BCN4U is a mobile app for people who visit Barcelona. Based on SAP City Connect, BCN4U can not only help tourists find the best things to do in Barcelona – tailored to their preferences –, but it can, for example, also tell how long the queue is at a given tourist attraction, in realtime.

Moreover, through Internet of Things (IoT) technology (incl. `beacons’) the app provides location-based services, like coupons and special offers for shops, restaurants, etc. in the current vicinity of the user.

REAL-LIFE EXAMPLE: WEISSBEERGER

Weissbeerger leveraged hard- and software, realtime data and IoT to develop ‘the connected bar’ – a smart solution that provides breweries and bars with a real-time understanding of the market in order to optimize pricing, manage inventory, and, most importantly, create a one-of-a-kind experience for consumers. Sensors connected directly to the beer tap provide useful details, such as sellout volume, beer quality metrics and more.
